I was recently out in the bush doing one of my favourite past times, photographing wild animals. It was while we were driving around aimlessly, admiring the odd dazzle of zebras that we heard what sounded like a thunderous roar in the distance. It was a lion. The entire Jeep became instantly, gripped by excitement and anxiety in equal measure. Almost on cue, Andries, our game driver, swiftly changed the frequency on his radio to 2 so he can ask his more experienced colleague Sandy if she had spotted this male lion that was presumably marking his territory or sending out a distress signal to any female lions who are single and ready to mingle. Andries made a 3 point turn followed a bee line for the mystery lion.
